“The ITIN you got is super fast, man. Like you got it in less than two months.”
What it unlocks
One number. The American financial system opens.
Every door in the US system asks the same first question: your taxpayer identification number. Americans answer with a Social Security number. You answer with an ITIN, and in most of the system that is enough to be seen.
Be identified
A nine-digit number the IRS issued to you. Banks, card issuers and processors can verify it. You exist in the system.
Build a credit report
The credit bureaus hold a file in your name under an ITIN. Every account you open afterwards reports to it and builds your history.
Bank at real banks
The big banks ask for a taxpayer ID before anything else. With one, the conversation with a banker can start.
Credit in your own name
Many US issuers accept an ITIN in place of a Social Security number on the application. The card, the line and the history are yours.
Get paid like a US business
US payment processors need a taxpayer ID for the account owner. An ITIN is one.
Stand before the IRS
Its original job: your identity in the US tax system, so your filings and the IRS's letters have a name to go to.
The ITIN opens the door. Whether a bank says yes stays the bank's decision. That is what the rest of the base is for.
Why us
Filed right the first time.
An ITIN application is one form and a stack of documents. Most rejections come from the stack: a wrong copy, a missing letter, the wrong reason code. We have filed these for founders in 40 countries. We know what the IRS sends back.
Done for you
You upload your documents once. We prepare the W-7, review everything, and file.
Checked before it's sent
Every document is reviewed against the IRS requirements before anything leaves our hands.
Built for what comes next
Your ITIN is layer one of the US base: company, banking relationships, then the cards. We set it up so the next layers fit.

Direct answers
What it is. What it isn't.
It is
- A nine-digit number the IRS issues to people who need a US taxpayer ID and can't get a Social Security Number.
- Your identity in the US tax and financial system. Yours for life while you use it; it lapses only after three tax years without a federal return.
- The first thing a US bank, card issuer or payment processor asks a non-US founder for.
It isn't
- Not a visa, a work permit or immigration status.
- Not a Social Security Number and not an EIN. The EIN is the company. The ITIN is you.
- Not a card, an account or an approval. It opens the door. The bank decides who walks through it.
- Not tax advice. What you file with it is between you and your CPA.
We prepare and file the application. We do not give tax, legal or immigration advice.
Done for you
You complete one form. We do everything else.
Our team prepares the paperwork, checks every document against the IRS requirements and files the application. You never deal with the IRS yourself.
Step 1
Complete the online form
Your details and your passport, once. It takes about ten minutes, and it is the only step you do.
Step 2
We submit your application
Our team prepares the W-7, checks every document, and files it with the IRS together with everything the IRS requires. You do nothing.
Step 3
Receive your ITIN
The IRS issues your number by letter. We track the file and tell you the moment it lands. Then the next layer of the base can start.
Processing time is set by the IRS, not by us. Allow around seven weeks; nine to eleven during the January to April peak or when applying from outside the US. IRS figures as of February 2026.

Documents
What you'll need. Most founders have it already.
- A valid passport. It's the one document the IRS accepts on its own.
- Your US company details if you have one (EIN letter, formation document). If you don't, we'll tell you what applies.
- The reason you need the number. Most founders we work with file because of a US business or a US reporting requirement; we pick the right box with you.
- An address where the IRS letter can reach you. We confirm it on the intake form.
Don't have a US company yet? Order the ITIN anyway. It's the same first step either way, and it's the first layer of the full setup.
What comes next
The ITIN is layer one. The base goes on top.
Company in the right state. Documentation a bank accepts. A relationship banker who knows you're coming. Then the cards. That's the full setup, and it starts with this number.

Everything founders ask us about the ITIN.
Can't find it? Email support and a person answers.
A nine-digit tax processing number issued by the IRS to people who need a US taxpayer identification number but are not eligible for a Social Security Number. It's for federal tax purposes only; it doesn't authorise work or grant any immigration status.
No. The ITIN exists for people who can't get an SSN.
All three are US tax IDs. The SSN is for US citizens and residents. The EIN identifies a company. The ITIN identifies an individual who can't get an SSN. A non-US founder with a US company usually ends up with an EIN for the company and an ITIN for themselves.
The IRS sets the timing. Around seven weeks is typical; nine to eleven in the January to April peak or when applying from outside the US (IRS figures as of February 2026). We track your file and tell you when it lands.
No. It puts you on the map with the IRS, which is where every bank's process starts. The account and the cards come from the base built on top of it. That's the full setup; see How it works.
No. You can order the ITIN before the company exists, and many founders do. If you already have a US company, bring the EIN letter and the formation document.
We check every document before filing so it doesn't happen. If the IRS rejects the application because of an error on our side, we correct and refile it at no additional charge. Full terms are in the Refund & Cancellation Policy.
Everything on our side. We prepare the W-7, check every document against the IRS requirements, file it, and represent you before the IRS under a power of attorney you sign, until the number lands. You never deal with the IRS yourself. The IRS itself does not charge for issuing an ITIN. That is the price until September 25. From September 26 it is $500.
It stays valid as long as it's used. If it isn't included on a federal return for three consecutive tax years it expires and has to be renewed before it's used again.
Client results
Founders who started with the ITIN.
“Doing your ITIN on your own, it can get very confusing. You don't know what's going to happen. The timelines are skewed, dealing with the IRS, all that kind of stuff. It can be very stressful.”
Robert
Canada“I was under the impression that you had to have a Social Security number.”
Jack
Australia“Then I got a really nice checklist on the things I need to do. That was really cool. I just came to the bank, I had all the documents, and she's saying, 'You are prepared.'”
